I offer counseling services to older children, adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety and eating disorders. I have a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding eating disorders and help guide clients towards healthier relationships with food, body image and self-esteem. I also work with caregivers and families who have a loved one diagnosed with an eating or mood disorder where this has provoked excessive stress within the family system.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland and my MS in Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University. I completed my internship at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Longwood University working with college students struggling with a wide range of mental health diagnoses. Since then I have been a therapist in private practice specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. I recently met the credentialing standards to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and I also serve as a board member for the Richmond Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp).
I work to build a safe, trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients as I believe this creates conditions for positive change to occur. I feel everyone brings their own unique story to counseling and to honor each client’s journey I use an eclectic approach to treatment using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Based Treatment, Reality Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
